The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese Metro N.Y. sponsors an annual website competition for middle school students. Two of Mrs. Katherine Shay's 8th Grade Spanish students, Sophia Sabelja and Alexa Cantreva, collaborated on a website on Ecuador. Their entry was chosen as the winner in the Middle School category. They were recognized in April at a gala where they presented their website: http://www.bienvenidosaecuador.com/Inicio.html
The website includes information about the country’s food, festivals, folklore, geography/environment, history/politics, and economy.
The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) promotes the study and teaching of the Spanish and Portuguese languages and their corresponding Hispanic, Luso-Brazilian, and other related literatures and cultures at all levels of education. Its collaboration with educators, professionals, and institutions in other countries contributes to a better and deeper understanding of Spanish-and Portuguese-speaking nations of the world.
