Earlier this spring, some of Mrs. Shay’s 8th grade Spanish students participated in the 2019 National Spanish Examination. The National Spanish Examination is an on-line contest that is given each year by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish & Portuguese. The purpose of the NSE is: •To recognize achievement and to promote proficiency in the study of Spanish. •To stimulate further interest in the teaching and learning of Spanish. •To prepare students for the Spanish AP and SAT II Richard Major and Katelyn Pothakul achieved a gold medal on the exam by scoring above 95%. Emily Ferrara, Theodore Jeliazkov, Alexandra Razhanskiy, Alexander Sabelja, Olivia Ziomber, and Joey Zou achieved a silver medal on the exam by scoring above 85%. Richard Major also scored 3rd in the Metropolitan New York Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Congratulations to all! What a great accomplishment.
